A magical path through a deep forest

There are those days when you want to get out and get some movement, but you're not in the mood to go too far away from your couch. In that case, it has got it's benefits to live in the middle of the mountains: There are trails everywhere, and some of them aren't that well known. One of them in my area is called Zaubersteig (translates as Magic Path). And truly, it has got something magic to walk the way up to the Zauberwinkel (translates as Magic Corner, so it has to be a special place with a magical atmosphere).

The first part of the hike

Starting point is Wörgl, were you immediately head into a dark forest with just a small strip of sky above you. From there you hike on to a place called Hennersberg, a not too big open space with some fields and houses on it. After crossing the place, yes heading over some paved ways for a time, some signs point you back into the woods, and out of the sun. From that point on, most of the hike will be in the shadows of many trees, so unless it is a really hot summer day, the heat is bearable.

The whole trail runs through more or less dense forest
So head deeper and deeper into the forest, the path itself has got it's up and downs, but nothing to hard for anybodies stamina. Enjoy the walk if you can, watch the sunlight fall through the trees to the ground or watch the sun itself shine through some treetops. And head on.

One of the few slightly dangerous points
After a while and a sharp turn to the left, the only slightly dangerous place comes in sight: Rocks on the left, a deep gorge on the right. But no need to be afraid, some fences will provide protection from falling down. The most positive thing about that point is, that already more than half of the way is lying behind you.

One of the few viewpoints - Wörgl and it's surrounding
And then, there he comes, one of the two viewpoints on the whole trip. Framed by trees, some rocks and the sky the Inn Valley and the a part of Wörgl will lie in front of you. Some tree stumps will provide a seat to enjoy the whole scenery. It is truly a nice place for a small break, if you need it or are just in the mood for it. But there will come a point, when it is time to head on. The goal isn't that far away anymore.

The scenery shows up when you head out of the forest
And there you are, the magical part of the hike is over. Just head along the way on the picture and you are at the end of the way. But don't forget to take a view to the right, it is worth it. So up in the Zauberwinkel you can head on to the Kragenjoch (see my first post on the blog), head into the Wildschönau or walk back down to your starting point.
