Good old shoes

After around three years in service those faithful friends get retired
It has got something of a love affair, you and your hiking shoes. First you have to find a fitting pair: The right size for your feet and good looking. Than, you have to walk a lot in them to make them really nice and comfortable to wear. Than, there comes the point were degradation sets in: The firsts cuffs here and there, maybe the first stitches say goodbye, but nothing too bad, everything is fine with your - at this point in time most favorite - footwear. But after a while, maybe one or two years passed by (time depending on average usage), the shoes start to cripple beyond repair. At first you won't accept it, tell yourself everything is fine, but at a certain point - last week a shoe sole started to break off my shoes - you have too accept that it is time for something new. Retire your old shoes, say goodbye to them, wear them a last time if you like and head out on a hunt for a new pair.

Jepp, basically they are the same, just new and shiny. And nicer to wear, but...
And there they are, the new shoes. Technically spoken they are the same as the old ones: Same color, same size and so on, but the don't feel the same. Not now. But soon, I hope. Just around a hundred kilometers of walking. So time to head out to some new places I have never been before, like the one beneath.

My new shoes took me there, they only gave me two or three blisters...
